20th - 21st April 2013 - 2d1n stay at Batam

my 2 baobei are going on their 1st boat ride to Batam.. thou this is not their 1st boat ride (they ever take boat to pulau ubin) but they are very excited.. i am excited too coz the last time i go batam was when i am 12 years old and i have no memory about batam at all.. my BIL got us tickets from www.deals.com.sg.. and we are taking the package that include a half day tour, lunch and 1 hr massage.. our itinary is
- dry product factory (to buy prawn crackers etc)
- to kueh lapis factory
- to polo ralph outlet
- to golden beach to play paint balls (10 bullets each person)
- to golden outlet (shopping/minature museum/go kart)
- lunch at golden prawn 933
- to pray at tua pek gong temple
- to choc factory
- to batam centre shopping mall
- massage at 88 hotel

and we are staying for a night at Mercure Batam hotel

excited boys on the boat

the homemade kueh lapis factory and they have many flavours avaliable

playing paintball.. jayden has the most fun there and jaycus is scare...
so my dad took him to the beach to walk while we play the paint ball shooting

not interested to buy polo ralph and so hubby and my bro took the 2 boys to play go kart...

lunch time

praying at tua pek gong temple
a whole range of kueh there for sale..
a choc factory.. we nvr buy any choc there coz we find the price not cheap
the last stop b4 massage is to bring us to Batam Centre Shopping mall.. we are given an hour there to shop but end up our 1 hour is spend at the acarde.. the kids have fun playing there and jayden even did a pc of art&craft there..

our package is 60mins body massage but we top up S$10 for 90mins massage.. we went back to Mercure Hotel to check in after the massage.. the room is quite small and old.. don really like this hotel.. surrounding has nothing only a KFC nearby
since we have so many of us and not convinent to take the kids out for dinner by taxi, we decide to ask the tour guide to bring us to dinner.. and he asks the other group members too.. end up there are 21 of us going for the dinner.. we are brought back to golden prawn 933 for dinner.. the dishes are different from lunch and of coz better coz we have to pay extra for this meal..
breakfast is not fantastic.. nothing to rave about.. haiz..

took the kids to the small miserable pool after lunch..
a group pic b4 going back...

we bought the original and cheese flavour.. wanted to buy the pandan flavour but they give us cheese flavour instead and we only realise the mistake when we are at home coz the kueh lapis are given to us on the coach when they come to bring us the ferry terminal back..

the overall experience to batam is not really a good one.. the itinerary planned was alright, we get to visit quite a few places in batam.. for the price we paid for the package, the lunch was pretty alright too.. juz that the kids are cranky coz no time to rest and so very noisy.. the hotel room is small and rather old.. small swimming pool and not fantastic breakfast.. massage was not shiok.. i still prefer the massage in bangkok.. me and hubby feel to go batam for relaxation is ok but not stay overnight coz quite boring at night.....
